Sampaio Corrêa Futebol Clube, often called Sampaio Corrêa, is a professional football club from Brazil. It was started on March 25, 1923, in São Luís, Maranhão. They play in Brazil's fourth football league, the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D. They also play in the top league of their state, the Campeonato Maranhense.
The team's colors are yellow, green, and red. Sampaio Corrêa has a cool nickname: Bolívia Querida, which means "Darling Bolivia." This is because their colors are similar to Bolivia's flag. They are also called Tubarão, meaning "Shark," which is also their mascot!
Sampaio Corrêa has a big rivalry with another team called Moto Club. This rivalry is one of the most exciting in Brazil. Sampaio Corrêa is the top-ranked team from Maranhão in the CBF's national club ranking. They are currently 32nd overall.

Club History and Beginnings
Sampaio Corrêa Futebol Clube was founded on March 25, 1923. Its first president was Abrahão Andrade. The club got its name from a special seaplane called Sampaio Corrêa II. This seaplane visited São Luís on December 12, 1922. It was flown by two pilots: Euclides Pinto Martins from Brazil and Walter Hinton from the United States.
The club played its very first official football match on April 26, 1925. Sampaio Corrêa won that game 1–0 against Luso Brasileiro. The winning goal was scored by a player named Lobo.
Major Wins and Achievements
Sampaio Corrêa has won several important championships over the years.

- In 1972, the club won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, which is Brazil's Second Division. They beat Campinense in the final match.
- In 1997, Sampaio Corrêa won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C, Brazil's Third Division. They won the final match against Francana 3–1. This win helped them move up to the Second Division the next year.

Regional and State Wins
- In 1998, the club won the Copa Norte, a regional cup. They beat São Raimundo-AM in the final.

- They have won the Campeonato Maranhense, their state league, many times. They have won it 37 times, showing they are the strongest team in Maranhão!
Recent Seasons and League Play
Sampaio Corrêa returned to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B for the 2014 season. They had a good run in the 2013 Série C, finishing fourth and reaching the final. Even though they lost the final to Santa Cruz, they still earned a spot in Série B.
However, the club faced some tough times and was relegated (moved down a league) in 2016 and 2018. In the 2020 season, Sampaio Corrêa had a strong performance. They finished sixth, just missing out on promotion to a higher league.
The 2022 season was also exciting. Sampaio finished fifth, again just four points away from being promoted. During that season, they beat famous teams like Vasco twice and had big wins against Sport and Gremio.
Home Stadium
Sampaio Corrêa plays its home matches at the Castelão stadium. This stadium is very large and can hold up to 40,000 people! It's a great place for fans to watch the team play.
