Samuel Kraemer (born 1857, died 1937) was a rancher, farmer, and businessman. He is known for helping Anaheim, California, grow a lot in the 1920s.
Early Life and Family
Samuel Kraemer was born on July 9, 1857, in Illinois. His parents were Elenora Schrag and Daniel Kraemer. In 1867, his family moved to Orange County, California. They were among the first English-speaking settlers in the area of Placentia.
Samuel married Angelina Yorba in 1886. She was from the important Yorba family, whose ancestors included Jose Antonio Yorba. This marriage helped Samuel gain more land. He also inherited land from his father.
Business and Development
Samuel Kraemer became very wealthy around 1919. This happened when the Union Oil Company found oil on his land. He became one of the richest people in Southern California.
Kraemer used his wealth to help develop Anaheim. In 1925, he built the Kraemer Building. This was the first tall building in Anaheim. He also developed the Angelina Hotel in Anaheim.

Legacy
