San Pedro Perulapán is a town in El Salvador. It is located in the Cuscatlán department. A "municipality" is like a local government area.

A Famous Battle

On September 25, 1839, a big fight called the Battle of San Pedro Perulapán took place here. This battle was part of a time when the countries of Central America were separating.

Who Fought?

The battle was between forces led by Francisco Morazán and soldiers from Honduras and Nicaragua. Morazán had about 800 Salvadoran fighters. The Honduran and Nicaraguan forces were much larger, with around 2,000 soldiers.

The Outcome

Even though Morazán's army was smaller, they won the battle! This was a very important victory for the Salvadorans.
