San Vicente (pronounced sam bi-SEN-te) is an important city in El Salvador. It is also a municipality, which is like a local government area, within the San Vicente department. Fifty Spanish families started the city in 1635. They founded it under a special Tempisque tree, which you can still see today!

Exploring San Vicente's Historic Places
San Vicente has many interesting places to visit. One famous spot is the Tower of San Vicente. A French architect named Eugenio Basilio Crepiat designed this tower. You can find it in the middle of Cañas Park.
The Tower's Story
In 2001, an earthquake damaged the tower. But don't worry, it has been fixed! Today, the tower is a busy place where many festivals happen.
