About Sandra Magsamen

Sandra Lee Magsamen was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Her family has a cool history! Sandra's great-grandfather, William Fuld, helped invent the famous Ouija board in the early 1900s.

Sandra has four sisters, and one of them is her twin. Sandra became interested in art when she was a child. She had an accident and spent a year recovering at home and in the hospital. During this time, she spent her days painting and drawing. This experience showed her how art and creativity can help people feel better.

She studied art at the Swain School of Design. Later, she earned a master's degree in Art Therapy from Goucher College. Sandra is married to a painter named Mark Barry. They have a daughter named Hannah.

Sandra Magsamen is a very successful author. She has written over 60 books for both adults and children. More than 5 million copies of her books have been sold! Her children's books are often best-sellers at popular stores like Barnes & Noble, Target, and Amazon. You can also find them in many other places.

Sandra's Creative Journey

Sandra started her creative business in 1987. She began making her own art in her kitchen. She wanted to celebrate everyday moments and feelings. She even made a special collection of pottery for her newborn daughter. This gift was full of life lessons, and it became the main idea behind all her work.

People loved her handmade art so much that she started her own company in 1991. It was called Table Tiles, Inc. In less than ten years, it grew into a huge gift business!

By 1997, Sandra began to license her artwork. This means other companies could use her designs on their products. She has created many successful collections for large stores. These collections are known by names like "From the Studio of Sandra Magsamen" and "Messages from the Heart."

In 2003, Sandra's book "The Gift" inspired the famous Christmas window display at Saks 5th Avenue. This special display shared the story of her book. It also featured music from famous artists like Beyonce and Sheryl Crow.

Sandra has also partnered with many other companies.

  • In 2013, she started working with 1-800-Flowers. She designed special collections for their customers. Sandra said they both want to help people connect, which makes their partnership special.
  • In 2015, she teamed up with Studio E Fabrics. Together, they created over 30 "sew your own" fabric book kits.
  • Also in 2015, she worked with Bamboozle Homewares. They created a line of dinnerware for children. These plates and bowls are made from recycled bamboo fibers, which is great for the environment!
  • In 2017, Sandra partnered with Chick-fil-a. She designed a special collection of children's board books for their Kid's Meal program.
