Santamaría Bullring facts for kids
The Santamaría Bullring (in Spanish: Plaza de Toros de Santamaría) is a famous building in Bogotá, Colombia. It is mainly known as a bullring, a place where bullfighting events happen. However, it has also been used for many other fun activities like concerts and cultural shows. This stadium can hold 14,500 people. It was built a long time ago, in 1931.
Outside the bullring, there is a special statue. It honors Pepe Cáceres, who was a very famous Colombian bullfighter, also known as a torero.

Changes in Bullfighting Rules
Over the years, there have been discussions about bullfighting in Bogotá. In 2012, the mayor of Bogotá at the time, Gustavo Petro, talked about stopping bullfighting in the city. He wanted to find new ways to use the Santamaría Bullring. He also said that public money would not be used for bullfighting events.
Bullfighting Returns to Santamaría
After a few years, bullfighting was allowed again. In 2017, bullfighting returned to the Santamaría Bullring. This happened after a four-year break. The decision was made by the city's mayor at that time, Enrique Peñalosa.
