Santo Corazón is a small village located in eastern Bolivia. It is part of the Santa Cruz Department, specifically within the Ángel Sandoval Province and San Matías Municipality. In 2012, about 774 people lived there. This village is famous for being one of the historic Jesuit Missions in the region.
The Story of Santo Corazón
In 1760, over 260 years ago, two Jesuit missionaries named Antonio Gaspar and José Chueca started the mission of Santo Corazón. These missions were special communities built by Jesuit priests in South America. They helped to teach local people about Christianity and also taught them new skills.
Languages Spoken in Santo Corazón
Today, most people in Santo Corazón speak a type of Spanish called Camba Spanish. This is the main language used every day. Long ago, people in the area, especially at the mission, spoke different dialects of the Otuke language. One of these dialects was called Coraveca.
