Santo Domingo Zanatepec is a town and a special area called a municipality in the state of Oaxaca, located in south-western Mexico. It's part of the Juchitán District, which is in the western part of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region.

Geography and Climate
This municipality was officially created on March 15, 1825. It covers a large area of about 1,024 square kilometers.
The weather here is warm and humid. It rains mostly in the summer and autumn months. On average, the area gets about 1,220 millimeters (about 48 inches) of rain each year.
Nature and Wildlife
Most of the municipality is covered in grasslands, but there are also some wooded areas. You can find many interesting animals living here. Some of the wildlife includes hares, rabbits, gray foxes, and coyotes. You might also spot deer, iguanas, and armadillos. Many wild birds, like doves, quail, and rooks, also call this place home.
People and Population
In 2005, there were 2,727 homes in the municipality. The total number of people living there was 10,716. Out of these, 211 people spoke an indigenous language, which means a language that was spoken by the original people of the land.
Economy and History
The main way people make a living in Santo Domingo Zanatepec is through farming. They grow crops like maize (corn), sorghum, sesame, and various vegetables. They also grow fruits such as mangoes and tamarind. Some families also raise animals like cattle, pigs, and goats.
The area has some interesting historical sites. You can find ancient archaeological sites in the town of Santo Domingo itself and also in places like Coyotera Regadillo. The local church, called the Church of Santo Domingo, is very old and dates back to the 1500s.
