Sara O'Leary facts for kids
Sara O'Leary is a talented writer from Canada. She writes many different kinds of stories. These include books for kids, novels for adults, plays, and even reviews of other books. Sara O'Leary has studied writing a lot. She earned special degrees from Concordia University in Montreal and the University of British Columbia. Plays and Other Writing
Besides children's books, Sara O'Leary has written plays. These plays have been shown at many festivals. One of her early plays, "The Dysfunctional Documentary," was even nominated for an award. Another play, "The Kitchen Sink," won a top prize in a playwriting competition in 2003.
Sara O'Leary has also written stories for adults. She published a collection of short stories called Wish You Were Here in 1994. Later, she released another collection called Comfort Me With Apples in 1998. She used to write a weekly column about books for the Vancouver Sun newspaper and for CBC Radio One. Her stories have appeared in different magazines like The Walrus. She also writes reviews for newspapers like The Globe and Mail and the National Post. Awards and Recognition
In 2024, Sara O'Leary received a very special award. She won the Vicky Metcalf Award for Literature for Young People. This award celebrates her entire collection of books for young readers. It shows how much her work is appreciated.
