Sara O'Leary facts for kids
Sara O'Leary is a Canadian writer. She creates many types of stories. She writes books for children, novels for adults, and plays. She also writes reviews about books and other things.
Sara studied writing at two universities. She learned a lot about writing stories and scripts for movies. One of her children's books, This is Sadie, was even made into a play! The play was shown in New York City and people really liked it.
Sara now teaches writing at Concordia University.

Plays and Other Writings
Sara O'Leary has also written plays. Her plays have been performed at many festivals. One of her early plays was even nominated for an award! Another play, "The Kitchen Sink," won a big writing competition in 2003.
Besides books and plays, Sara writes short stories. She published a collection of short stories called Wish You Were Here in 1994. Later, she released another collection called Comfort Me With Apples in 1998. She also used to write a weekly column for newspapers and radio. Her stories have appeared in different magazines. She also writes reviews for major newspapers. In 2020, she published a novel called The Ghost in the House.
Awards and Recognition
In 2024, Sara O'Leary received a special award. She won the Vicky Metcalf Award for Literature for Young People. This award celebrates writers who have created many great books for young people. It shows how important her work is in children's literature.
