Sarah Hoadly (1676–1743) was a talented British portrait painter. She was known for capturing people's likenesses in her artwork. Sarah was married to Benjamin Hoadly, a well-known bishop.

A Talented Artist
Sarah Curtis was born in 1676. Even before she got married, she was already making a name for herself as a portrait painter. She learned her skills from another famous artist, Mary Beale.
Sarah painted many important people of her time. Some of her subjects included William Whiston and Gilbert Burnet. She also painted a portrait of her husband, Benjamin Hoadly. This painting is now kept at the National Portrait Gallery. Some people even believe that the famous artist William Hogarth might have helped with this painting.
Family Life
Sarah Curtis married Benjamin Hoadly on May 30, 1701. He was one of the people she had painted. This was her second marriage.
Sarah and Benjamin had five sons together. Three of their sons, Samuel, Benjamin, and John, grew up. John later helped to publish his father's writings. Sarah Hoadly passed away in 1743.
