Savona is a small, unincorporated community located in Darke County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a village. Instead, it's usually governed by the county.
A Look Back: The History of Savona
Savona has an interesting past. It was first known by a different name: Tecumseh. A post office was opened there in 1885, serving the local residents and businesses.
However, the name of the community changed a few years later. In 1897, Tecumseh officially became known as Savona. The post office continued to operate under this new name for many years. Eventually, the post office in Savona closed its doors in 1933.
