Scoop and Doozie facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Scoop and Doozie was a fun TV show from the late 1990s. It was about three awesome toy construction vehicles: Doozie, an orange bulldozer; Scoop, a yellow excavator; and Axel, a blue and red dump truck. The show used cool puppets and real videos to teach kids about building and machines. It aired for a short time on CBC Television's children's block, CBC Playground (which is now called Kids' CBC), from 1999 to 2002.

Meet the Characters

Scoop

  • Scoop was a yellow (sometimes green) excavator with a closed bucket. She was super smart and quick-witted. But sometimes, she could be a bit focused on herself and liked to argue with Doozie. Scoop usually hung out with Axel.

Doozie

  • Doozie was an orange bulldozer. He loved getting into mischief, playing in the dirt, and having exciting adventures! Doozie was very energetic and, like the other toys, was smart and witty. However, Doozie could sometimes be a bit annoying. He often enjoyed causing trouble, especially when he was competing with Scoop and Spritz.

Axel

  • Axel was a red and blue dump truck. He was the most sensible and organized member of the group. Axel loved to relax, but he spent most of his time trying to stop arguments between Scoop, Doozie, and Spritz. Axel rarely got into trouble himself.

Spritz

  • Spritz was a silver and black garden hose. She loved to cause trouble, start arguments, and provoke others. Spritz was often seen as a bit of a villain because she was pessimistic and enjoyed making others argue.

The show Scoop and Doozie was made by Queen Bee Productions. Romney Grant was the main producer, and Vicki Grant was the creative producer and story editor. Edward Peghin was also a producer.

How the Show Worked

The show usually started with Axel, Scoop, and Doozie doing something fun together. Then, they would run into a problem. To figure out how to solve it, they sometimes went to the basement window of the house where they lived. There, they would watch the house owner doing something similar to their problem.

Other times, the machines would go to the fence posts to watch Fence TV. This was a video of real machines shown through a knothole in the fence. After watching the basement or Fence TV segment, the machines would use what they learned to solve their own problem!
