About the Show's Story

Where Scruff's Adventures Happen

The story begins when a tourist family loses their puppy in a forest. After a long search, a young country worker named Peter finds the puppy. Peter takes the puppy to his aunt and uncle's farmhouse and names him Scruff.

Peter and his family soon discover Scruff's special talents. He is great at acrobatics and can even sniff out different forest fruits! Scruff lives on the farm with other animals, including two dogs named Sanda and Tricks. They become like family to him. Each episode brings a new adventure for Scruff. He learns about farm life from the animals and explores the forest with wild creatures. He also meets people in the nearby village.

Meet the Characters

  • Scruff – A curious young puppy. His playful nature sometimes gets him into funny trouble. He is a mix of different dog breeds. Scruff is not good at tracking or guarding, but he is amazing at acrobatics and finding forest fruits.
  • Strummer – A tiny flea who lives on Scruff. He often gives Scruff advice and plays the guitar. Scruff sometimes gets annoyed with Strummer.
  • Peter – Scruff's owner. He is a lot like Scruff and dreams of joining a circus.
  • Uncle Ron and Aunt Lil – Peter's aunt and uncle. They own Tolosa Farm and are a typical farm couple.
  • Sanda – The most grown-up dog on the farm. She acts as a watchdog and helps track things. When Scruff arrives, Sanda takes him in like her own son. She is very kind, but Scruff can sometimes test her patience. She is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.
  • Tricks – Sanda's son and Scruff's best friend. Even though they are close, Tricks sometimes feels a bit jealous of Scruff. Still, he always joins Scruff in his adventures. He is a Vizsla puppy.
  • Miaow – Uncle Ron and Aunt Lil's pet cat. He does not really like the dogs on the farm, especially Scruff.
  • White Socks – A fox who lives in the forest near the farm. He is a rare type of fox, and many hunters try to catch him but never succeed. He thinks the farm animals do not know much about the wild. Even though he can be selfish, he has a soft spot for Scruff and often helps him.
  • Haunty The Hound – The 300-year-old ghost of a hound dog. He lives in the farmhouse cellar. Only Scruff, Strummer, and later White Socks, know he exists. He has interesting ideas about life because he lived with both wild and farm animals in his past.
  • Holly – Peter's girlfriend. She is kind and down-to-earth. Peter's quick decisions sometimes bother her, but she truly loves him.
  • Princess – Holly's pet dog, a Pumi. At first, she seems a bit snobby, but she later falls in love with Scruff.
  • Mr. Canute – Holly's father. He is a rich man who does not approve of Peter's working-class background or his relationship with Holly.
  • Buttons – A mushroom seller. He tries to make money in any way he can, sometimes even illegally. He often tries to capture Scruff for scientific research.
  • Truffles – Buttons' dog, who helps him sniff out mushrooms. Truffles is a Bouvier des Flandres. He does not agree with his owner's dishonest actions but stays with him out of loyalty. He later becomes romantically involved with Sanda.
  • One-Man Circus – A dishonest clown. He is determined to kidnap Scruff because Scruff is a rare dog breed. He wants Scruff to be the star of his circus.
  • The Rats – A group of rodents who cause trouble around the farm.
