Seclantás is a small village located in the northwestern part of Argentina. It is about 165 kilometers (102 miles) southwest of the city of Salta.
Long ago, the area known today as the Calchaquí Valley was home to many different native tribes. Each tribe had its own leader, called a chief. In the specific region where Seclantás is now, there was a tribe led by a chief named “Seclanta.” This is how the village got its name.
