The Second International was an important group that existed from 1889 to 1916. It was started on July 14, 1889. This organization brought together different socialist groups and workers' parties from around the world. Their main goal was to work together to spread socialist ideas internationally.
The Second International continued the work of an earlier group called the First International, which had ended in 1886. However, the Second International did not include some powerful groups like the anarcho-syndicalists or many trade unions.
