The Downtown Core is the heart of Billings. It's where most of the important financial, business, cultural, and medical activities happen for the city and the areas around it. You'll find many tall buildings here, including the First Interstate Center, which is the tallest high-rise building in Montana!

This area has many smaller neighborhoods. Some of these include the Historic District in East Downtown, where you can see old buildings. In West Downtown, there's the Medical Corridor with hospitals and clinics, and the Cathedral District known for its churches. There's also the Civic District where city offices are located, and the area near Montana State University Billings.

Heights

The Heights area is located northeast of the Downtown Core. It became part of the city in the mid-1980s. This section is home to the Lake Hills Golf Course, a popular spot for golf.

Northeast

The Northeast section is bordered by roads like Roundup Road and Mary Street, and also by the Yellowstone River. It's located northeast of the Heights area.

North Elevation

This part of Billings is famous for the Rimrocks. These are large, natural rock formations that rise high above the Yellowstone Valley, offering amazing views.

Some neighborhoods here include Zimmerman, Rehberg Ranch, and Indian Cliffs. The Billings Logan International Airport (BIL) is also located in this section.

Terry

The Terry section is a green and active area. It's where you'll find Central Park and Terry Park, which are great places for outdoor fun. Billings Central Catholic High School is also located here.

Other neighborhoods in this section include Highlands Country Club and the area around Rocky Mountain College.

West End

The West End, also known as the West Side, is one of the fastest-growing parts of Billings. It's a busy area with lots of shopping and schools. You can find Rimrock Mall here, which is a popular shopping center.

This section is also home to Billings West High School, where the sports teams are called the Bears. Will James Middle School and Meadowlark Elementary School are also in the West End.

Southwest

The Southwest area is growing and will soon have a new shopping and business area called Billings Town Square. A large outdoor recreation store called Cabelas will be one of the main stores there.

This section includes neighborhoods like South Hills, Riverfront, and Josephine Crossing.

Northwest

The Northwest area is generally located north of Grand Avenue and west of Shiloh Road. This part of town is known for having some of the more expensive homes and neighborhoods.

Some neighborhoods you'll find here include Yellowstone Country Club, Augusta Ranch, and Copper Ridge.

Shiloh

The Shiloh area is located west of the West End. It's centered around Shiloh Road, which is a major road that goes north and south. In 2008, Shiloh Road was made wider and had seven roundabouts added to help with traffic flow.

Near the southern part of Shiloh, a shopping area called Shiloh Crossing was built. It has a movie theater, many restaurants, shops, and department stores like Kohl's.

Lockwood

Lockwood is a community located just east of Billings. It's a suburb that has grown a lot and is now the largest unincorporated community in Montana. This means it's a large town that isn't officially a city. The Billings Bypass, a new road, will connect Lockwood to the Heights area.

Shepherd

Shepherd is another community located northeast of Billings, off Highway 312. It's named after R.E. Shepherd, who was an important early settler in the area.
