The Senate of Pakistan is like the upper house of Pakistan's main law-making group, called the Parliament of Pakistan. Think of it as one of two important teams that work together to make laws for the country.

Senators are chosen through elections. Every three years, about half of the senators are elected. Each senator serves for six years. This way, there are always experienced people in the Senate.

If the President of Pakistan cannot do their job, or if the position becomes empty, the person in charge of the Senate, called the Chairman, steps in. The Chairman acts as President until a new President is elected.
