Serhiy Volodymyrovych Zakarlyuka (born August 17, 1976 – died October 6, 2014) was a talented Ukrainian football player. He later became a football manager. Serhiy was known for playing as an attacking midfielder. This position means he helped both defend and score goals for his team.
Playing Career
Serhiy Zakarlyuka played for many different football clubs in Ukraine. He started his professional career in 1993. Over the years, he played for well-known teams. These included Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Arsenal Kyiv.
Club Teams
Serhiy spent a lot of his career playing for Arsenal Kyiv. He played there from 1996 to 2001, and then again from 2006 to 2011. He also played for Metalurh Donetsk and Shakhtar Donetsk. These are some of the biggest clubs in Ukraine.
He was a key player for many of his teams. He scored 80 goals in 401 games during his club career. This shows he was very good at finding the back of the net.
National Team
Serhiy also had the honor of playing for his country. He was part of the Ukraine national team. He played 9 games for Ukraine between 2002 and 2004. Representing your country is a big achievement for any footballer.
Managerial Career
After he stopped playing, Serhiy Zakarlyuka became a football manager. In 2013, he was a caretaker manager for FC Arsenal Kyiv. A caretaker manager takes charge temporarily. Later, from 2013 to 2014, he worked as an assistant manager. He helped coach the team FC Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Okhtyrka.

Sadly, Serhiy Zakarlyuka passed away at a young age. On October 6, 2014, he was involved in a car accident. The accident happened near the city of Poltava in Ukraine. He was 38 years old when he died.
