Seth Gilliam (born November 5, 1968) is an American actor. He is famous for playing different characters on popular TV shows. You might know him as Ellis Carver from The Wire, Dr. Alan Deaton from Teen Wolf, or Father Gabriel Stokes from The Walking Dead. He has also appeared in many movies and plays.
Early Life and Education
Seth Gilliam was born on November 5, 1968. He went to college at the State University of New York at Purchase. In 1990, he earned a special degree called a Bachelor of Fine Arts. This degree is for people who study acting.
Acting Career Highlights
Seth Gilliam started his acting career in movies in the early 1990s. He has been in several well-known films. For example, he played Sergeant Sugar Watkins in the 1997 action movie Starship Troopers. He also appeared in the 1996 film Courage Under Fire. In 2014, he was part of the cast of the movie Still Alice.
On television, Gilliam has had many important roles. He was a recurring character on The Cosby Show in its seventh season. He played Dr. Alan Deaton on the show Teen Wolf for many years. One of his most famous roles was as Ellis Carver on the critically acclaimed series The Wire.
In May 2014, Seth Gilliam joined the cast of AMC's hit show The Walking Dead. He played the character of Father Gabriel Stokes. He continued in this role until the show ended in 2022.
