Shūsaku Nishikawa (born on June 18, 1986) is a famous Japanese professional football player. He plays as a goalkeeper for the Urawa Red Diamonds club in Japan. He is also the team's vice-captain.

Playing for Clubs

Early Career with Oita Trinita

Shūsaku Nishikawa started his football journey in the youth system of Oita Trinita. This means he trained and played with their younger teams. He joined the main team in 2005. On July 2, 2005, he played his first game in the top Japanese league, called J.League Division 1. This was against Yokohama F. Marinos. By 2006, he became a regular player for Oita Trinita.

Moving to Sanfrecce Hiroshima

After Oita Trinita moved down to a lower league, Nishikawa decided to join another J.League Division 1 club. On December 30, 2009, he signed with Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He played for them for several years.

Joining Urawa Red Diamonds

On January 5, 2014, it was announced that Nishikawa would move to Urawa Red Diamonds. He joined them permanently for the 2014 season. He has been a key player for Urawa Red Diamonds ever since.

Playing for Japan

Youth National Teams

Nishikawa also played for Japan's national youth teams. In 2005, he was part of the Japan U20 national team. They played in the 2005 World Youth Championship. He played in all four matches for his team. Later, he joined the Japan U23 national team. He played for them at the 2008 Summer Olympics and played in all three games.

Senior National Team Debut

Shūsaku Nishikawa made his first appearance for the main Japan national team on October 8, 2009. This was during a qualification game for the 2011 Asian Cup. The match was against Hong Kong.
