Shady Lake Park was a fun, small amusement park located in Streetsboro, Ohio. A family called the Humphreys ran the park. It opened its doors in 1978 and closed just a few years later in 1982.

Many of the rides at Shady Lake Park had an interesting past. They actually came from another famous park called Euclid Beach Park! After Shady Lake Park closed, many of its rides moved again. They ended up at Old Indiana Fun Park, including a special ride called the Euclid Beach Chief.

The park had a tall entrance gate that looked a lot like the one at Euclid Beach Park. This gate stood for a long time, until 2004. Today, the land where Shady Lake Park once stood is now home to apartments and a bank.

Park History

Shady Lake Park was a popular spot for families in the late 1970s. It was known for having rides that had been enjoyed by many people before. The park gave these classic rides a new home.

The Humphrey Family worked hard to create a fun place for everyone. Even though it was open for only a short time, it created many memories. It showed how old rides could find new life in a different park.

What Happened to the Rides?

When Shady Lake Park closed in 1982, its rides didn't just disappear. Many of them were moved to another park. This park was called Old Indiana Fun Park. It was like the rides went on a new adventure!

One special ride that moved was the Euclid Beach Chief. This shows how amusement park rides can travel and be enjoyed by different generations. It's a bit like a journey for the rides themselves.

The Park's Legacy

Even though Shady Lake Park is no longer open, its memory lives on. The land where it once stood has changed. It is now used for homes and businesses.

The tall entrance gate was a reminder of the park for many years. It was a landmark along Route 14. Its history is a part of Streetsboro's story.
