Shangri-La is a huge, dark area on Titan, which is the largest moon of Saturn. You can find it at about 10 degrees South and 165 degrees West. This interesting place is named after "Shangri-La," a fictional valley in Tibet from a famous book called Lost Horizon.
Scientists think Shangri-La might be a very wide, flat plain made of dark material. These large, dark areas on Titan might have once been seas or lakes, but now they are dry.
What Does Shangri-La Look Like?
Shangri-La has some areas that are higher up and brighter. These brighter spots are often called "islands" because they stand out from the darker plain.
This vast plain is surrounded by other high-ground regions. To the east, you'll find Xanadu. To the west is Adiri, and to the north, there's Dilmun.
Where Did the Huygens Probe Land?
The Huygens probe was a special spacecraft that landed on Titan. It touched down on a western part of Shangri-La. This landing spot was quite close to the Adiri region.
