Sheets Island is a cool island located in the Susquehanna River! It sits right next to the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Sometimes people also call it Shutts Island.
This island isn't alone. It's part of a group of many smaller islands, all together called the Sheets Island Archipelago. An archipelago is just a fancy word for a cluster of islands. This whole area is huge, covering about 3,675 acres!
The best part? This land is open for everyone to enjoy. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources calls it a Natural Area. It's also part of the Weiser State Forest District, which means it's a protected place for nature. Other big islands nearby in the river include McCormick Island, Independence Island, and Governor’s Mansion Island.
