Shigemi Ishii (石井 茂巳, Ishii Shigemi, born July 7, 1951) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender and was also a member of the Japan national team.

Shigemi Ishii was born on July 7, 1951. After finishing his studies at Chuo University, he joined a football club called Furukawa Electric in 1976. This club was very successful during his time there.
Club Successes and Achievements
With Furukawa Electric, Ishii helped his team win the league championship twice. They won in 1976 and again in the 1985–86 season. The club also won the 1976 Emperor's Cup, which is another important football tournament in Japan. They also won the JSL Cup three times: in 1977, 1982, and 1986.
Ishii played for Furukawa Electric until he retired in 1986. During his time with the club, he played in 149 league games and scored 5 goals. In 1976, he was even chosen as one of the "Best Eleven" players in the league. This means he was considered one of the top players in his position that year.
Playing for His Country: Japan National Team
Shigemi Ishii also had the honor of playing for the Japan national team. His first game for Japan was on February 12, 1974, against Singapore. At that time, he was still a student at Chuo University.
International Tournaments and Games
In September 1974, he was chosen to represent Japan at the 1974 Asian Games. He also played in the qualification matches for the 1978 FIFA World Cup. Ishii played a total of 15 games for Japan between 1974 and 1979.
