Shiro Kikuhara (菊原 志郎, born July 7, 1969) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a Midfielder and was also a member of the Japan national team.

Playing for Clubs

Shiro Kikuhara was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, on July 7, 1969. He started his football journey with the youth team of Yomiuri in 1985. This team later became known as Verdy Kawasaki.

He made his first professional appearance in February 1986, when he was just 16 years old. This was in the Japan Soccer League. During his time with the club, they won the league championship three times. They also won the JSL Cup twice and the Emperor's Cup twice. In 1987, his club even won the 1987 Asian Club Championship, which is a big competition for teams in Asia.

In 1992, the Japan Soccer League changed and a new league called the J1 League was created. His team, Verdy Kawasaki, continued to be successful. They won the 1993 J.League championship. They also won the J.League Cup in 1992 and 1993.

However, Shiro Kikuhara started playing less often. Because of this, he moved to the Urawa Reds in 1994. After playing there for a while, he returned to Verdy Kawasaki in 1996. He decided to retire from playing football at the end of that season.

Playing for Japan's National Team

Shiro Kikuhara also played for his country. On July 29, 1990, he played his first game for the Japan national team against China.

He also represented Japan at the 1990 Asian Games. In total, he played 5 games for the Japan national team in 1990.
