Shrewsbury is a small, rural place in Grayson County, Kentucky, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

History of Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury has a long history, dating back to at least 1833. It was first called Territory. Later, it was renamed to honor a person named Judge James W. Shrewsbury.

In 1895, Shrewsbury officially became a city in Kentucky. However, it lost its city status just a few years later, in 1901.

Shrewsbury once had its own post office. The first person in charge of the post office, called a postmaster, was Reuben Tingle. After him, four other postmasters worked there. The post office eventually closed in 1933. Today, Shrewsbury is not as clearly marked on many maps as it once was.
