Shulamit Nadler (1923-2016) was an important architect from Israel. She is most famous for designing the National Library of Israel. She helped shape many modern buildings in her country.
About Shulamit Nadler's Life
Shulamit Knibski was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, on August 16, 1923. Her parents were Rachel and Yitzhak Kanev.
She studied architecture at the Technion university. Her teacher was Zeev Rechter. Shulamit was only the second woman ever to finish an architecture degree at that school!
While at Technion, she met Michael Nadler. He later became her husband and her partner in architecture. They worked together on many projects after she graduated.
In 1970, Shulamit Nadler won the Rokach Prize. This was a special award for her amazing work in architecture. She passed away in 2016 when she was 93 years old.
Shulamit Nadler's Famous Buildings
Shulamit Nadler designed many important buildings. Here are some of her most well-known works:
- Beit Sokolov, Tel Aviv, built in 1948.
- Israeli Agricultural Bank, Tel Aviv, built in 1925.
- National Library of Israel, Jerusalem, designed in 1956.
- Jerusalem Theatre, Jerusalem, designed in 1958.
