Shunichi Ikenoue (池ノ上 俊一, Ikenoue Shunichi, born February 16, 1967) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder for several teams in Japan during his career.
Playing for Clubs
Shunichi Ikenoue was born in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. He was born on February 16, 1967. After finishing his studies at Osaka University of Commerce, he joined a football team called Matsushita Electric in 1989. He played many games as an attacking midfielder, helping his team score goals.
In 1990, he moved to another team named All Nippon Airways. This team later changed its name to Yokohama Flügels. He played for them until 1993. After that, in 1994, he joined a team in the Japan Football League called PJM Futures. This team also changed its name later to Tosu Futures. Shunichi Ikenoue finished his football career and retired at the end of the 1995 season.
Playing for Japan's National Team
In 1988, while Shunichi Ikenoue was still a student at Osaka University of Commerce, he was chosen to play for the Japan national "B team". This was for a big competition called the 1988 Asian Cup.
He played in two games during that competition. However, the Japan Football Association does not count these games as official matches for the main Japan national team. This is because he played for the "B team" and not the "top team."
