Silvia Edith Maria Neid (born May 2, 1964) is a famous German former football player and coach. She is known as one of the most successful people in German women's football. She won many national championships and cup trophies as a player. Later, she became the head coach of the German women's national team from 2005 to 2016. She was even named the FIFA World Women's Coach of the Year three times!

Playing Career
Silvia Neid started her football journey at SV Schlierstadt. This club was later renamed Klinge Seckach. She played there until 1983.
Joining Top Teams
In 1983, Silvia joined SSG Bergisch Gladbach. This team was one of the best in German football at the time. She helped them win "the double" in 1984. This means they won both the league championship and the cup in the same year.
After a season without winning any titles in 1985, she moved to TSV Siegen. This move was a great success for both Silvia and the club. During her time there, TSV Siegen had its best years. They won six national championships and five German Cup trophies. Silvia retired from playing football after the 1996 season.
Playing for Germany
Silvia Neid also played for the Germany women's national football team. Her first game was on November 10, 1982, against Switzerland. She scored two goals in that match. Her first goal came just one minute after she entered the game!
She was a key player for Germany. She helped her team win the UEFA Women's Championship three times in a row. These wins happened in 1989, 1991, and 1995. She also played in the final of the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup. Her last game for Germany was at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She played against Brazil in that match. Overall, she played 111 games for Germany and scored 48 goals.
Managerial Career
Right after she stopped playing football, Silvia Neid started coaching. She began working with the German women's national team.
Coaching Youth Teams
She first coached the under-19 team. Under her guidance, this team won the 2004 World Championship. They also finished as runner-up in another Women's Championship.
Leading the Senior Team
Silvia Neid then became the assistant manager for the senior national team. She worked under coach Tina Theune-Meyer. On June 20, 2005, she took over as the head coach.
As head coach, she led the team to amazing victories. They won the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup by beating Brazil 2–0 in the final. She also coached the team to a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Silvia Neid stepped down as head coach in August 2016. During her time as head coach, the German women's team played 169 games, winning 125 of them.
