Sir Charles Richard Blunt was born in 1775. He was the oldest son of Sir Charles William Blunt, who was the 3rd Baronet. A "Baronet" is a title that is passed down through families, similar to a knight but hereditary. When his father passed away in 1802, Charles Richard became the 4th Baronet.
His Work with the East India Company
Before becoming a politician, Sir Charles worked for the East India Company. This was a very powerful British company that traded goods like spices, textiles, and tea, mainly with countries in Asia. Working for them was a big part of his early career.
