Sir John Keane, 1st Baronet facts for kids
Sir John Keane, 1st Baronet (born 21 May 1757 – died 19 April 1829) was an important Irish politician. He was a member of the Tory Party, which was a major political group at the time.
He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) in Ireland. From 1790 to 1797, he represented the area of Bangor. Then, from 1798 until 1800, he represented Youghal. This was when the Act of Union happened, joining the parliaments of Great Britain and Ireland.
After the union, Sir John Keane continued to be an MP for Youghal. He served in the new, larger Parliament of the United Kingdom until the general election of 1806. In 1801, he was given the special title of a baronet.

Sir John Keane married a woman named Sarah Kelly. They had three sons together. Two of their sons, named John and Edward, became soldiers. They served as aide-de-camp (which means a personal assistant to a high-ranking officer) to Major-general Sir Hussey Vivian. Both sons were involved in the famous Battle of Waterloo.
