When his uncle passed away on February 24, 1816, John William Lubbock became the 2nd Baronet. He also took over as the head of the family bank, Lubbock & Company.

The Bank's Future

After Sir John William Lubbock, his son, also named John William Lubbock, took over the bank. This son also became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1829. In 1860, the family bank, Lubbock & Co., joined with another bank called Roberts & Co. The new bank was named Roberts, Lubbock & Company.
