Early Life and Family Connections

Sir Thomas Morgan was born around the year 1685. He was the only son of Sir John Morgan, 2nd Baronet. His family lived at a place called Kinnersley Castle. His mother was Hester Price.

When Sir Thomas was just a young boy, in February 1693, his father passed away. This meant that Thomas inherited his father's lands and also became the 3rd Baronet. A Baronet is a special title, like a knight, that can be passed down through families.

Around 1709, Sir Thomas Morgan married Anne Roydhouse. Her father, John Roydhouse, lived in London.

Stepping into Politics

Sir Thomas Morgan's family had a history in politics. His father, Sir John Morgan, had been a Member of Parliament (MP) for different areas. An MP is a person chosen to represent a group of people in the House of Commons, which is part of the British Parliament. They help make laws and important decisions for the country.

Sir Thomas's uncle, James Morgan, was also an MP. He wanted his nephew, Thomas, to get involved in politics too. They tried to get Thomas elected in the general elections of 1708 and 1710.

Even though Sir Thomas didn't win those first elections, he didn't give up. He later made an agreement with other powerful families in the area. With their support, he was elected without anyone running against him. This happened in a special election on July 30, 1712. He became the MP for Herefordshire.

He continued to be elected without opposition in the 1713 and 1715 general elections. He was part of the Tory political group.

Later Years

Sir Thomas Morgan passed away on December 4, 1716. He had one child, a son named John. After Sir Thomas's death, his son John inherited the title and became the 4th Baronet.
