Sir Thomas Style was born in 1624. His father was also named Sir Thomas Style, 1st Baronet. The family lived in a place called Wateringbury in Kent, England. His mother was Elizabeth Foulkes. Her father was Robert Foulkes from Essex.
In 1634, Sir Thomas's father held an important job. He was the High Sheriff of Kent. A High Sheriff was a top official in a county. They were responsible for keeping law and order.
His Time in Politics
Sir Thomas Style became a politician in 1656. He was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP). An MP is someone elected to represent people in the House of Commons. He represented the area of Kent.
He served in a special government called the Second Protectorate Parliament. This was during a time when England was not ruled by a king. He was elected again for Kent in the Third Protectorate Parliament.
Family and Later Life
Sir Thomas Style was married twice. His first wife was Elizabeth Airmine. She was the daughter of Sir William Airmine, 1st Baronet. After Elizabeth passed away, he married Margaret Twisden. She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Twisden, 1st Baronet.
Sir Thomas had a son named Oliver with his first wife. Oliver became the next Baronet after his father. However, Oliver died just a few months later. So, Oliver's half-brother, also named Thomas, became the next Baronet.
Sir Thomas Style lived to be 78 years old. He passed away in 1702.
