A Splashy History: How the Park Began
This water park first opened its gates in 1995. Back then, it was known as Waterworld USA. A company called Premier Parks created it. This same company also managed another water park nearby, which is now called Raging Waters Sacramento.
Premier Parks also owned Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, a theme park close by. Because these parks were so close and managed by the same company, you could often use a season pass from one park to visit the others!
Becoming Part of the Six Flags Family
In 1998, Premier Parks bought the well-known Six Flags company. After this, Premier Parks even changed its own name to Six Flags Inc. Over the next few years, many parks owned by Six Flags got new names.
In 2003, Waterworld USA became Six Flags Waterworld. This showed it was now officially part of the Six Flags family.
New Owners and a New Name Again
At the end of 2006, Six Flags decided to sell some of its parks, including this one. In 2007, a company called CNL Lifestyle Properties bought the Concord park. A different company, also named Premier Parks LLC (but not the original one that built the park), managed it for a while.
In 2016, CNL sold the park to EPR Properties. Then, in 2017, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced they would take over running the park again!
Hello, Hurricane Harbor!
On February 22, 2018, Six Flags announced a brand new name for the park: Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Concord. This is the name it still uses today.
A Quiet Season: The 2020 Closure
In 2020, like many places around the world, the park had to close its doors. This was due to concerns about a global health situation. The park announced that it would not open for the entire 2020 season. It was the first time the park had not operated since it first opened in 1995. Luckily, the park was able to welcome guests back in 2021!

- Six Flags Waterworld (2004–2006)
- Waterworld California (2007–2017)
