Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Sky Witness is a British television channel that shows lots of interesting programs. It started broadcasting a long time ago, on 1 September 1993, but back then it was called UK Living. Over the years, the channel changed its name a few times and moved to different channel numbers on TV.

The Channel's Early Days

The channel first launched as UK Living in 1993. It was a new place for people in the United Kingdom to watch different kinds of shows. Later, in 1997, the BBC and another company called Flextech started a group of channels known as the UKTV Network. Even though new channels like UK Arena, UK Style, and UK Gold were created, UK Living stayed as its own separate channel. This happened in November 1997.

Becoming Sky Living

On 1 February 2011, UK Living changed its name to Sky Living. This was a big change, and the channel started showing new programs. For example, it showed a series called Border Security UK, which looked at how borders are kept safe. At this time, the channel stayed on channel number 112 for Sky+HD customers, even though some other channels moved.

The Switch to Sky Witness

The channel changed its name again on 6 August 2018, becoming Sky Witness. With this new name, it also moved to a new channel number, going from 112 to 107. Sky Witness focuses on showing exciting real-life and drama programs. Some of the popular shows you might see on Sky Witness include:

  • Road Wars
  • Firefighters
  • Motorway Patrol
  • Children's Hospital
  • Border Security USA

These shows often feature people in action, like police officers, firefighters, or medical staff, making them very popular with viewers.
