Marcel Gauthier (born July 21, 1928 – died November 6, 1998) was a famous Canadian professional wrestler. He was known by his wrestling name, Sky Low Low. He was a "midget wrestler," which means he was much shorter than most wrestlers. His wrestling name was inspired by another wrestler, Sky Hi Lee.
Sky Low Low's Wrestling Career
Sky Low Low was a very short wrestler, standing only 42 inches (about 107 cm) tall. He weighed 86 pounds (about 39 kg). He started his wrestling career in the 1940s.
He first wrestled in Canada with the National Wrestling Alliance. Soon after, he won the NWA World Midget Championship in Paris, France. For most of his career, his manager was Jack Britton. Jack Britton was the father of another wrestler, Gino Brito.
Sky Low Low even wrestled in a special match for important people. He and another wrestler, Little Beaver, performed for Queen Elizabeth II and King Farouk of Egypt.
Later, in the 1980s, he toured with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). One of his special acts was an open challenge. He would offer $100 to any other midget wrestler who could beat him in a two out of three falls match. He was also famous for being able to stand on his head without using his hands to balance! He had a long-running rivalry with another wrestler named Farmer Brooks.
About Sky Low Low's Life
During World War II, Marcel Gauthier worked in the tail of an aircraft bomber. He helped fix rivets, which are special fasteners. Outside of wrestling, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and horseback riding.
Marcel Gauthier died on November 6, 1998, from a heart attack. He was married at the time of his death. After he passed away, he was honored for his wrestling career. In 2002, he was added to the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame.
