The Skylight Office Tower is a tall office building in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. It was finished in 1991 and stands 12 stories high, reaching about 165 feet (50 meters). This building is part of the big Tower City Center complex.
The Skylight Office Tower has a modern design with some classic touches, a style called postmodern. It looks a lot like its nearby sister building, the Chase Financial Plaza. Both buildings sit on a strong concrete base. This base was actually planned for a different office tower back in the 1930s, but that building was never built.
Inside, the Skylight Office Tower has a huge 321,000 square feet of office space. Its main lobby is very fancy. It features beautiful Italian granite, shiny black marble, and detailed mahogany wood. The company RTKL designed and built the Skylight Tower. They also built its sister building. The tower was built to add more office and rental spaces in downtown Cleveland.
The Hard Rock Cafe at Skylight Tower
In 1998, a famous restaurant called the Hard Rock Cafe opened inside the Skylight Office Tower. It was one of only two Hard Rock Cafes in the entire state of Ohio.
The Hard Rock Cafe was very popular because it was connected to Tower City Center. Its location in downtown Cleveland made it a big draw for both tourists and people living in the city. Like all Hard Rock Cafes, it was known for its collection of Rock & Roll items and its diner-style look. The Hard Rock Cafe at this location closed its doors in July 2016.
