One popular event is the Scallywag Run. This is an 8-kilometer (about 5-mile) run or walk that usually happens in late August. Participants get to follow a unique path called "the plank." This is a sandbar that only appears when the tide is low. It connects one of Smith's Cove's many beaches to Bear Island. It's a really cool and unique experience!
