Soledad grew up in Albaida del Aljarafe, a town in Spain. Her family worked hard. Her grandfather was involved in politics during a difficult time in Spain's history and faced challenges because of his beliefs.
Before becoming a politician, Soledad Cabezón was a heart doctor, also known as a cardiologist. She worked for several years at a large hospital called Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío.
Her Political Journey
Soledad Cabezón began her political career in her hometown. She served as the mayor of Albaida del Aljarafe from 2003 to 2011.
In 2008, she was elected to the Congress of Deputies. This is the lower house of Spain's parliament, called the Cortes Generales. She represented the Seville Province. From 2008 to 2012, she also worked as the secretary of equality for the PSOE party.
Working in the European Parliament
In the European Parliament election held in 2014, Soledad Cabezón was chosen to be one of the 14 members for her party. She served in the European Parliament until 2019.
During her time there, she was part of important groups. From 2014 to 2015, she was on the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. She also served on the Committee on Petitions. From 2015 to 2019, she worked on the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. This committee deals with topics like protecting our planet, public health, and food safety.
Additionally, she was part of the Parliament's group that worked with Chile. This group was called the EU-Chile Joint Parliamentary Committee.
