Sophie Lebrun Dulken (born July 20, 1781 – died July 23, 1863) was a talented German musician. She was a pianist and a composer. Sophie was the daughter of two famous musicians. Her father, Ludwig August Lebrun, played the oboe for the court in Munich. Her mother, Francesca Lebrun, was a singer and composer.

Sophie Lebrun was born in London. Her mother was traveling and performing there at the time. Sophie learned to sing from her uncle, Franz Danzi, who was also a composer. She studied piano with a teacher named Andreas Streicher.

Sophie Lebrun's Musical Journey

After finishing her studies, Sophie Lebrun traveled around Europe. She became a very well-known concert pianist. People loved to hear her play.

In 1799, she married J.L. Dülken. He was a piano maker for the court in Munich. Sophie and J.L. had four children: Theobald (born 1800), Louise (born 1805), Fanny (born 1807), and Violande (born 1810). All of their children grew up to be musicians, just like their parents. Theobald even married another famous pianist, Louise David.

Sophie Lebrun also wrote her own music. She composed sonatas and other pieces for the piano. Sadly, these works were never published. Over time, they became lost, so we cannot hear them today. Sophie Lebrun passed away in Munich.
