Sorcha's Early Life and Music Beginnings
Sorcha Richardson grew up in a place called Dalkey, near Dublin. She loved music from a young age. When she was just 10 years old, she started her very first band with her school friends. Imagine making music with your buddies at that age!
Later, Sorcha traveled to Brooklyn in the United States. There, she studied creative writing. This helped her become a great storyteller, which is a big part of her songwriting today.
Her Journey in Music
After her time in Brooklyn, Sorcha came back to Dublin in late 2017. Her music career really started to take off.
In 2018, she performed at the Longitude Festival, which is a big music event in Ireland. She was also recognized by RTÉ 2FM, a popular radio station, as one of their "Rising Artists." This means they thought she was a new artist to watch out for! Sorcha has also worked with other Irish musicians, including the band All Tvvins.
Releasing Her First Albums
Sorcha released her first album, called First Prize Bravery, in 2019. This album was all about understanding friendships and relationships as you grow up. It was a big success and was even nominated for the Choice Music Prize. This is a special award for the best Irish album of the year.
In the same year, Sorcha worked with two other singers, Soulé and Elaine Mai. They created a song together called Butterflies. This song was part of a special music project by Three Ireland called Made by Music.
Her second album, Smiling Like an Idiot, came out in 2022. It was also very popular and reached number 4 on the Irish Albums Chart.
