Sorina-Luminița Plăcintă, also known as Sorina Bucuraș, is a Romanian engineer and politician. She was born Sorina Ștefan on February 6, 1965.
She was a member of the National Liberal Party. Before that, she was part of the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L). From 2008 to 2012, she was a member of the Romanian Senate for Vrancea County. She also served as Minister of Youth and Sport from July to December 2009. For a short time, she was also the interim Minister-Delegate for Relations with Parliament.

Early Life and Education
Sorina-Luminița Plăcintă was born in Focșani, Romania. She studied at the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași. In 1989, she graduated with a degree in Textile Technology and Chemistry.
Career as an Engineer
After finishing university, Sorina Plăcintă worked as an engineer. From 1989 to 1993, she worked at a wool spinning mill in Focșani. Later, she became involved in managing textile companies. She was a leader at several textile firms in Focșani. These included Soreste, Milcofil, and Artifex.
Political Journey
Sorina Plăcintă began her political career in 1997. She joined the Democratic Party, which later became the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L).
Becoming a Senator
In the 2008 elections, she won a seat in the Romanian Senate. She represented Vrancea County. As a senator, she became the vice president of the committee for agriculture, forestry, and rural development.
Ministerial Roles
In July 2009, Sorina Plăcintă was appointed Minister of Youth and Sport. She held this position until December 2009. Her goal was to improve youth programs and sports activities.
In October 2009, she also took on another role. She became the interim Minister-Delegate for Relations with Parliament. She held this position until December 2009. Her time as a minister ended at the close of 2009.
Later Political Activity
About a year later, she was elected as a vice president for the PD-L party in Bucharest. In June 2012, she left the PD-L party. She then joined the National Liberal Party (PNL). She decided not to run for re-election in 2012. She left the Senate at the end of that year.
Personal Life
Sorina-Luminița Plăcintă has one son from her first marriage. She is also a supporter of the Romanian Orthodox Church. She has helped build two Romanian Orthodox churches. She later married Viorel Bucuraș in 2011 and adopted his last name in 2012.
