The South-East district is one of the areas that make up the country of Botswana. It is located in the southeastern part of the country. The main town, or capital, of this district is Ramotswa. Interestingly, Gaborone, which is the capital city of all of Botswana, is completely surrounded by the South-East district.

Exploring the South-East District

The South-East district is a great place to visit, especially if you love nature and wildlife. It has some exciting places where you can see animals and enjoy the outdoors.

Fun Places to Visit

There are three main places that many tourists enjoy in the South-East district:

  • Mokolodi Nature Reserve: This is a special area where animals are protected. You can often see many different types of wildlife here.
  • Gaborone Game Reserve: Located near the capital city, this reserve is another wonderful spot to observe local animals in their natural home.
  • Manyelanong Game Reserve: This reserve is known for its beautiful scenery and the chance to see various bird species.

How the District is Organized

The South-East district is divided into two smaller areas, which are called sub-districts. These help to manage the different towns and villages within the district.

Sub-Districts and Their Villages

The two sub-districts are:

  • Ramotswa sub-district: This area includes the villages of Mogobane, Ramotswa, and Ramotswa Station/Taung.
  • Tlokweng sub-district: This area includes the villages of Otse and Tlokweng.
