South Broken Hill is a suburb in the city of Broken Hill. This city is located in western New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the vast, dry area known as the outback.
The suburb is managed by the City of Broken Hill local government. It is separated from the rest of Broken Hill by a natural feature. This feature is called the "Line of Lode." A major road, the Silver City Highway, also runs through South Broken Hill. This highway connects to Wentworth.

South Broken Hill was once known by a different name. It used to be called Alma. This name was used for an area that chose its own government representative. This area was known as the electoral district of Alma. It existed from 1894 to 1904.
