Spain, South Dakota facts for kids
Spain is a small, undeveloped place in Marshall County, which is in the U.S. state of South Dakota. When we say "unincorporated community," it means it's a group of homes or buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
History of Spain
A long time ago, in 1888, a post office was opened in Spain. People could send and receive mail there. It stayed open for many years, but then it closed in 1942.
It's a bit of a mystery why this place was named Spain. No one is quite sure how it got its name!
