Spring Mountain, Ohio facts for kids
Spring Mountain is a small place in Ohio, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and people living together, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Monroe Township.
A Look Back: Spring Mountain's History
Spring Mountain began a long time ago, in 1836. This is when people first planned out the community. They decided where streets and buildings would go.
Before it was called Spring Mountain, this area had other names. For a while, it was known as Ridge. It was also sometimes called Van Buren.
A post office opened in 1850. At first, it used the name Ridge. Then, in 1858, its name changed to Spring Mountain. The post office helped people send and receive letters. It stayed open until 1919, when it finally closed.
