Stéphane Rolland's Fashion Journey
Starting Out in Fashion
Stéphane Rolland began his fashion career at a young age. When he was just 20 years old, he joined the famous fashion house Balenciaga. Within a year, he became the Creative Director for their menswear. This meant he was in charge of designing clothes for men and managing their international products.
Creating His Own Brand
At 24, Stéphane decided to start his own fashion company. This company focused on "prêt-à-porter" clothes, which means ready-to-wear fashion. He ran his own brand for six years. After that, he was asked to become the main designer for another well-known haute couture fashion house, which used to belong to Jean-Louis Scherrer. Stéphane worked there for ten years.
Designing for Movies and Shows
Besides creating fashion collections, Stéphane Rolland also worked as a costume designer. He designed clothes for movies and plays. In 2006 and 2007, he was nominated for the Molière awards. These are very important awards for theater in France. He also became a special partner of the Cannes Film Festival, a famous movie festival.
Launching His Own Couture Line
On July 2, 2007, Stéphane Rolland showed his very first haute couture collection under his own name. This was a big moment for him. His brand is now a full member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. This special group makes sure that only the best fashion houses can officially use the "Haute Couture" label.
Expanding Globally
In May 2013, Stéphane Rolland opened his first store outside of France. This new boutique was located in the Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi. This showed how popular his designs were becoming around the world.
