St. Paul's Parish Church is a beautiful old church in Malden, Massachusetts. It was built in 1913 and looks like a castle from a storybook! This church was designed by a famous architect named Ralph Adams Cram.

The church is an Episcopal church, which is a type of Christian church. It's known for its amazing Gothic Revival style. This means it looks like buildings from the Middle Ages, with tall arches and fancy details.

Before this building, there was an older church from 1871. That old building is still used today as the church's parish house. Some of the colorful stained glass windows in St. Paul's were made by a well-known artist named Wilbur Herbert Burnham. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001 because it's an important historical building.

About the Church Building

St. Paul's Parish Church is located in Malden, Massachusetts. You can find it at the corner of Washington and Florence Streets. It's a large, two-story building made from strong granite stone. The church has a special look called Gothic Revival.

The main entrance faces north, towards Florence Street. It has a big, arched doorway, just like you might see in an old castle. Above the entrance are two tall, pointed windows. Smaller windows are on each side of the entrance. The church also has strong stone supports called buttresses along its sides. These help the walls stand tall and strong.

History of St. Paul's

The church building you see today was finished in 1913. It was designed by Ralph Adams Cram, who was a big fan of the Gothic Revival style. He designed many churches and university buildings to look like medieval European structures.

The beautiful stained glass windows were made by Wilbur Herbert Burnham. He often worked with Ralph Adams Cram on projects. These windows add amazing color and light to the church's inside.

The church community, or congregation, started in 1861. They officially became a church group in 1867. At first, they met in different halls around the area. Their very first church building was built in 1872 on a nearby piece of land.

As more and more people joined the church, they needed a bigger space. That's why they decided to build the current, larger church building. The old church building from 1872 is still used by the church today. It's called the parish house and is used for meetings and other church activities.
