St Mary's Church is a Church of England parish church. It is located on the south side of Lansdowne Road in Tottenham, north London.

History of St Mary's Church

St Mary's Church started in 1881. It began as a "mission" from Marlborough College. This means the college helped to set up a new church community.

At first, the church met in the school building at Coleraine Park. This school is now known as Coleraine Park Primary School.

Three years later, in 1884, it became a "mission district." This was a step towards becoming a full church. Marlborough College helped a lot by paying more than a third of the cost for the land. This land was used to build a permanent church.

The new church building was finished and officially "consecrated" in 1887. To consecrate a church means to set it apart for holy use. The next year, in 1888, it became a "consolidated chapelry." This meant it combined parts of three other churches: All Hallows, Holy Trinity, and St Paul. The church was designed by J. E. K. Cutts and built with red bricks.

The Church Organ

The organ inside St Mary's Church was built in 1889. It was made by a company called William Hill & Sons. At that time, Thomas Hill, the son of the company's founder, was in charge.

Three years later, in 1892, the same company made some changes to the organ. Over time, the organ was not looked after very well. Because of this, it stopped working in the 20th century.

However, between 2009 and 2010, the organ was taken out of the church. It was then carefully restored. This restoration included fixing a special part called a Barker lever mechanism.
